Question

Are you able to perform surgery to reduce the size of a cleft chin?

I have seen that surgeons in the USA will do the procedure but I haven't yet found anyone in the UK that does.

Answer

It is possible to both reduce and contour the chin, and the procedure involved with correcting the cleft chin depends on its characteristics.

Sometimes, in association with the chin reduction, a release of the soft tissues in the midline of the chin may be required to create a smoother contour, and it may also be necessary to add some volume in that pocket so that the cleft appearance does not recur.
