Question

I am 140 kg male and I have most of my weight on my tummy and lower tummy. I am 50 years of age and will like to know if I am a candidate for an apronectomy? - hoping to take off at least 5 kg of stomach fat.

Answer

I would suggest that the better course of action in your situation would be to discuss with a bariatric surgeon regarding the options for weight loss surgery. This type of intervention also helps with general health, and invariably will lead to more skin laxity which can be addressed by plastic surgery.

At your current weight the risks related to apronectomy surgery are unreasonably high, and the outcome of the surgery will be significantly influenced by further weight variations.
